Booking & Eligibility
How do I get a quote or book a car?
All quotes, vehicle availability, and bookings are now exclusively handled through our website for a smoother and more efficient experience.
What are your minimum rental durations?
Purple Cars specializes exclusively in long-term rentals, with a minimum duration of 30 days and extending up to 3 years.
What are the age and driving license requirements for renting a car?
Requirements vary by fleet:
Runabouts: Minimum 21 years old and must have held a full driving license for a minimum of two years.
Budget, Premium & Automatics: Minimum 25 years old and must have held a full driving license for a minimum of two years.
What is the One Time Reservation Fee?
A one-time, non-refundable reservation fee of €48 is taken at the time of booking. This fee secures your booking and includes a free extra driver. Should Purple Cars have to cancel the rental for any reason, this fee will be returned.
What is the maximum age limit for renting a car?
The maximum age limit for renting a car from Purple Cars is 75 years old.
Fleet & Vehicles
What types of cars do you offer?
We offer three main fleets to suit every budget: Premium, Budget, and Runabouts. Within each, you can generally choose from small, medium, or large car sizes (Runabouts are limited to small and medium).
What are "Runabout Cars" and what are their limitations?
Runabouts are our most economical, older vehicles (typically 2006-2009 models). They are mechanically sound and reliable for basic A-to-B transportation, ideal for local commuting within a 150-kilometer radius of Estepona 29680. If you have a breakdown outside of this area, you may not be covered by the breakdown assistance policy. We do not guarantee the functionality of non-essential features like the radio or air conditioning. They are manual transmission only.
What are the typical conditions of Budget Fleet vehicles?
Budget Fleet cars (typically 2010-2015 models) offer great value. They may have small imperfections like minor dents or worn upholstery, as they are higher kilometer cars that come with unlimited mileage.
Are automatic cars available?
Yes, automatic transmission vehicles are exclusively available within our Budget and Premium fleets. They are priced individually and are, on average, 25% more expensive than manual cars, and are subject to availability.
Do your cars come with unlimited mileage?
Yes, our Budget Fleet cars include unlimited mileage.
Pricing & Payments
Are your rental prices monthly or weekly?
Our prices are always quoted PER MONTH, not per week like other companies, offering you better value for long-term rentals.
What is the Security / Damages Deposit and how does it work?
A refundable security deposit is required at the beginning of each rental (amounts vary by fleet: Runabouts €350, Budget €500/€650, Premium €750). It acts as your insurance excess in the event of a fault claim. See our "Peace of Mind & Protection" page for full details.
When will my Security / Damages Deposit be refunded?
We endeavour to refund deposits within 14 business days of rental end, provided the vehicle is returned in the same condition. Refunds are automatically processed to the original payment card.
Who do I contact if I have a question about my deposit refund?
Deposit refunds are not handled by office staff. Please email accounts@purplegroup.es for any queries regarding your refund.

What is the Monthly Service Fee?
All rentals are subject to a monthly fee of €24.95. This fee covers all card charges and subscription costs.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major debit and credit cards. A 3.5% surcharge applies to American Express. We do not accept cash payments.
Insurance & Coverage
What insurance is included with my rental?
Every rental includes comprehensive insurance with an excess amount, providing robust coverage.
What is "Optional Cover Plus+"?
Cover Plus+ is an optional add-on available for €1.25 per day that covers specific expenses typically excluded from your standard rental agreement.
What does Cover Plus+ cover?
It covers tyres (punctures/blowouts), glass (chips, cracks, windscreen, wing mirror), alloy wheel damage, and loss of hub caps.
What is NOT covered by the standard insurance/deposit?
Items not covered include theft, fire, vandalism, loss of keys, towing charges (unless breakdown related), and damage to the roof/underbody.
Breakdown & Accidents
What do I do if my rental car breaks down?
Call our help desk at +34 851 000 726. During office hours (Mon-Fri, 9 am - 6 pm), our staff will assist you. Outside office hours, press option 1 to be transferred to RACE, our 24/7 breakdown assistance partner.
Do I need to stay with the vehicle if it breaks down?
Yes, you MUST remain with the vehicle if it breaks down. In Spain, it is a requirement for the driver to be present for assistance, and leaving the vehicle unattended may result in fines.
Is a courtesy car provided in case of a breakdown?
Yes, a courtesy car will be provided after your broken-down vehicle has been returned to our designated service center (Estepona Tyres) and a mechanical inspection has been completed.
What if I have an accident?
In the event of any accident, however minor, you must call us immediately at +34 851 007 261. You are also required by Spanish law to complete a European Accident Statement form.
General & Other
Do you operate from the airports?
We do not currently operate directly from the airports. Please see our website for information on our collection and drop-off locations.
What is your fuel policy?
Our fuel policy is simple: simply return the car with the same amount of fuel as when you took it. We do not offer refunds for unused fuel. Please make sure to check which fuel is the correct one for the vehicle; this will be highlighted on the paperwork we provide you with.
How are speeding and parking fines handled?
If we receive a fine related to your rental, you will be charged the full amount of the fine plus a €34 administration fee. Your card on file will be automatically charged without prior notice to prevent the fine from doubling. Disputes must be taken up directly with the issuing authority, not Purple Cars.
Can I add an extra driver to my rental?
Yes, a free extra driver is included with your One Time Reservation Fee.
What is my responsibility regarding fluid levels and day-to-day vehicle maintenance?
The day-to-day running and maintenance of the vehicle, including keeping all fluid levels (such as oil and water) topped up, is your responsibility during the rental period. We are always happy for you to bring the car into our service center should you ever need these topped up. However, please remember that it is your responsibility to ensure the engine has sufficient oil, as failure to do so can lead to engine damage which would not be covered by your rental agreement or insurance.
What is your Air Conditioning & Regassing policy?
Runabouts Fleet: While these cars have AC, we do not regas them due to age-related potential issues.
Budget Fleet: AC is standard. For extra coldness in summer, regassing is available at a subsidized cost of €62.50. This must be done at Purple Cars Service Center by appointment only, and the regassing takes approximately 1 hour.
Premium Fleet: Air conditioning with regassing is included as standard.
What documents do I need to bring for my rental?
You will need to bring your original driving license. If you are a Spanish resident, we require your TIE or DNI. If you are not a Spanish resident, we require your ID card. We also require proof of address where the car will be kept.
